About CBGP
The goal of the Chemical Biology Graduate Program is to equip graduate Ph.D. students with the training needed to propel research at the chemistry/biology interface in new and exciting directions while supporting their personal research interests.
The program is open to students who are interested in interdisciplinary research at the interface of chemistry and biology and are entering one of the four Berkeley departments:
Chemistry
Molecular and Cell Biology
Chemical Engineering
Bioengineering
CBGP Students enjoy
- 3 ten week rotations through labs from over 36 laboratories in the above four departments
- An annual retreat for Berkeley chemical biology students and faculty to interact and network with other bay area chemical biology researchers, including those from USCF and UCSC
- 3 poster sessions per year where 1st year students practice presenting their work to diverse audiences
- 2 required courses and personal advising to ensure students meet the requirements of their home department as well as CBGP while selecting courses that satisfy their own personal research interests.
- Exposure to excellent and diverse Seminars
- Career Day to explore and network with post-graduation opportunities *New*
The CBGP does not offer a degree in Chemical Biology. It is designed to enhance the degree granted by the student’s selected home department. Program participants meet both the requirements of CBGP and their home department.
